Phoebe's First Fall (sort of)

It's certainly her first fall with us, and it's making Dad's favorite time of year even better than usual: high holidays, football, baseball playoffs, changing leaves, cool dry weather, the first day of school AND the cutest little girl in the world. We've been pretty busy. Classes began for me shortly after my last post, and Alesa had her major fundraising dinner on September 6.
Grandma and Grandpa Silver arrived that same day for a Phoebe fix. We spent a day up in Michigan's thumb at the Lake Huron shore, and went to our local cider mill. G & G had lots of fun with Phoebe, and she with them. The photo above shows Phoebe on the playground at the beach.
Two days after Grandma and Grandpa left, we headed off to Kansas City for rosh hashanah. We hadn't been back to KC in a year, and Phoebe needed to make her debut in Mom's hometown. All of Alesa's sisters and their families were there, with the exception of two of Phoebe's cousins.
We were also able to see most of Alesa's friends, and meet some kids that they've added since we last were in town. We had a little party at Grandma's house, and Aunt Sheryl baked up a ton of goodies. It was great trip!

Then we came home, and got right back into the swing of things. The Yankees made things interesting but FAILED to take the AL East. That was fun. Let me type it again. The Yankees failed. The Yankees failed. The Yankees failed. Wow, that's addictive. And is if that weren't enough, the Mets also failed, even more spectacularly. The Mets failed. The Mets failed. The Mets failed. Try it yourself -- it's loads of fun. Also, the Jets are terrible, the Giants mediocre, and Notre Dame cover-your-eyes awful. This Michigan-Red Sox-Patriots fan is stoked about all the fall sports news. (Of course, the Red Sox blood in me is waiting for the other shoe to drop. I may regret this post in three weeks' time, but hey, carpe diem).

Yesterday, we went to the local apple orchard to get our Halloween pumpkins (VERY bad choice of day to go -- it was 80, sunny and dry, a little warmer than I like in a fall day, but beautiful -- and the immediate world was there). Phoebe of course had no idea why we were there, but still had fun roaming around the pumpkin patch and trying to lift gourds that weighed more than she
We're staying put here until Thanksgiving in Boston, although we've got a few people coming in for Phoebe's baby naming ceremony in late October. I'll try to get back to posting more frequently than once a month. For now, here are a few more photos of Phoebe's fall exploits.
