Phoebe's First Thanksgiving Preview
The obvious part of this post, what we're thankful for this year, just about writes itself. I'll resist the temptation to gild the lily.
We're off tomorrow to spend the holiday in Framingham. Since Phoebe's two now, we had to buy her a seat on the plane. Chances are she'll spend the whole flight on Mommy's lap anyway, but at least we'll be able to stretch out and have a place for our stuff.
My mom's having just about the maximum possible crowd this year, close to 25 people, including a few family members who have yet to meet Phoebe, so we should have a lot of fun.
Phoebe's really making some developmental strides in the past week or two: She's using two-word phrases spontaneously, and becoming more vocal generally. She's also much better at (and much more insistent about) dressing herself. This morning she put on her jeans while we thought she was playing with stuffed animals in her room. The jeans were backwards, and Phoebe needed a diaper change, so her effort was for naught. Still, a pretty big step.
As it happens, these were jeans that we had brought with us to Russia in May. They're capris (which, I've learned, are pants that are supposed to come to mid-calf or so). In Russia, they went well past her ankles, and we had to roll them up. Today, they fit more or less as intended (they're still a bit big around the waist).
Phoebe also loves to clean, which is good, as cleaning has sunk pretty far on our priority list in the last six months!! Yesterday morning she grabbed a wipe from the package and started wiping the rungs of the kitchen chairs. I think I'll saw off the better part of our mop handle so that it's the right size for her (actually, she already tries to use the swiffer when we have it out).
More to follow as the holiday weekend unfolds. A couple more photos below, and I'll post more from Thanksgiving later in the week.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
