Sorry
for the long delay. Two year olds are more fun to play with than write about, and it's harder than ever to find time. A lot of ground to cover today -- Thanksgiving, Chanukah, and Phoebe's first encounter with (American) snow.
Thanksgiving was a blast. We had just about the maximum possible crowd, as all the alternating/occasional people were in attendance the same year (my pre-Thanksgiving estimate of 25 people was on the low side -- the actual count was 28 -- and I promised my Mom I'd correct the record). Phoebe really seemed to make a connection this time with her cousins and aunts and uncles. She met them all several times before, but it seemed to click to her on this trip that these were her people. We missed our friends the Hugheses, who this summer moved back from Boston and Harvard to DC and private practice. On the other hand, we did get a chance to see our good friend Margaret, whom we hadn't seen since our wedding in 2003. Margaret had been living in Telluride, and I will always regret that we didn't make it out there to ski -- er, see -- her there before she moved back East this fall.
More about Chanukah and snow to come later today or tonight. I need to get ready for today's outing to the zoo. Phoebe knows all the sounds the animals make, and we think she'll have a blast.
Some Thanksgiving photos below. (I'm considering switching the blog to a different host that provides better layout options for photos, but for now we're stuck with Blogger's limitations). The beautiful knit sweater that Phoebe's wearing in several of these photos was handmade for her by our lifelong friend Charlotte.
