Layers

Our arrival in Tyumen is now within range of weather forecasts (can you imagine the luxury of being wrong that often and getting paid for it?). Overnight lows are at or near freezing; daytime highs are all over the place, from 70ish Friday (that's 21 for you English) to only mid 40's (i.e., 7) when we arrive next Tuesday. Moscow, on the other hand, is much more temperate.

So we're packing for a child (for the first time in our lives), whose size we can only guesstimate (she was just under 20 lbs three months ago), and we need appropriate clothes for a 40-degree temperature range. It's a good thing we both have the packing gene (and generous friends who've given us a very healthy head start on her wardrobe)!

And so, well before it's official, we've begun to assume the responsibilities, mundane and colossal, of parenthood.
